Aaryn has represented children, parents, and other interested parties in child protective services cases since 2006. When a child is removed from their parent's care, an attorney is immediately appointed to represent the child. It is that attorney's job to meet with the child and meet with the child's foster parents or other temporary caregivers. The child's attorney is tasked with representing the child's interests and desires in court.

A parent is also entitled to an attorney when child protective services initiates a legal case. If a parent can't afford an attorney, the court may appoint an attorney to represent the parent. The parent's attorney helps to ensure the parent's legal rights are protected during the legal case.

A child protective services case can take from 9 months to 18 months. During the case there are several hearings for the court to monitor the status of the parents' work on services and goals in order to regain custody of their child. The court also ensures the child receives any services they may need, such as counseling or educational help.

Family members of children involved in a child protective services case also have the ability to be a part of the legal case. In addition to being a possible placement option for the child, family members can be support for the parents and assist in the parents regaining custody.

An attorney experienced with child protective services and the nuances of the system can provide guidance to anyone involved with the child protection system. Call Aaryn today at (817) 803-2620 to schedule a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your CPS case.
